As more devices add wireless charging as a feature, the more demand there is for a wireless charger to drop them on. That’s why Apple is launching the AirPower mutli-device wireless charging mat, but it has been delayed until September due to technical hurdles. Now it turns out Samsung is planning a similar mat.
It’s called the Wireless Charger Duo, but hasn’t been officially announced by Samsung yet. The packaging for the new charger leaked via the Twitter account of Roland Quandt, with the official unveiling expected on Aug. 9 at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked press conference.

As the packaging confirms, the Charger Duo is capable of charging two Qi certified smartphones at once, or a phone and a smartwatch such as the Galaxy Watch. Both devices will have access to fast charging simultaneously.
It’s possible Samsung may now beat Apple to market with this mutli-device charger. However, Apple is attempting to go one better than Samsung by allowing the AirPower to charge three devices at once compared to the two supported by the Charger Duo. For most people, that’s going to be enough, though.
